How to Spot Water Leaks
Posted: Jul 26, 2019

As you have surely noticed, our water service lines are frequently failing around town. The Township is aware of the ongoing situation and we want to do our best to address any leaks that occur in a reasonable time frame, depending on several factors such as, severity, contractor availability, completing more than one repair at a time, etc.

If the water does not surface, we have no means to know where the leak might be, except that the water treatment plant may show an increase in water usage than normal, but owners have to contact us with any irregularities they may notice or be aware of, in and around their building.

Therefore please find a few tips to help you spot a water leak:

  • you hear the constant sound of running water;
  • you see running water or wet areas;
  • you see a lot of plants growing near pipe work, especially during dry weather;
  • the water pressure in your home is different than it used to be.

If you suspect you have a water leak, please contact the Township office as soon as possible. With your help we might be able to pin point the break with increased water usage and schedule the repair quicker in order to avoid worse damage to the pipe and undermining properties and roads.

We thank you very much for your continued cooperation & understanding!
